The Three Circles

The Good News in Three Circles

The Three Circles is a simple way to understand the big picture of God’s story. In just a few minutes, it shows how the world was meant to be, why it’s so broken, how to experience hope and restoration, and what it means to respond. Whether you’re exploring faith for the first time or looking for a clear way to talk about it with others, take a few minutes right now to read on.

God

God created everything with a purpose — including us.  We were designed for perfect relationship with Him, with others, and with the world around us.

Genesis 1:31 “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.”

Sin leads from God to Brokenness

When we sin and go our own way, we depart from God's design and experience brokenness.

Sometimes that brokenness looks like pain, guilt, and shame.  There is always an emptiness: filled with debauchery (excess and indulgence), or vanity (pride and meaningless pursuits).
People try to escape brokenness through things like worldly success, jobs, possessions, relationships, addiction, even religion, but these don't work.

Romans 3:23 “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

God gave us Jesus

The void caused by sin can’t be filled by pleasure or pride — only by God Himself.  God didn’t leave us in our brokenness. He sent Jesus, who lived perfectly, died for our sins, and rose again.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but will have everlasting life.

Repent (Turning from Sin and Trusting in Jesus)

If we repent (turn from sin) and believe in Jesus, we are forgiven and made new.

Romans 10:9 “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart... you will be saved.”

Trusting in Jesus leads to restoration with God God will restore us and we can begin to recover and pursue God’s design again.
