Who am I? As far back as I can recall I have loved people. As a young man in Baltimore, I connected with many ethnicities through my Catholic School that was equally Asian, African American and European. My teen years in an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood could have provided me fluent Hebrew if I had known that connecting to Christ was in my future. My twenties were without focus until God providentially used the birth of my first son, Meric, to challenge me to think, “What’s the purpose of life?” Who would believe that while thinking such a thought I would cross the path of a street evangelist who shared John 3:16 with me from his bible? I accepted Christ at that moment, and within 1 year of my conversion, I enrolled in Washington Bible College. Through God’s grace and much perseverance I completed both a Bachelors and Masters in Christian Ministry and Leadership while working full time.

I met my wife Demetra while leading a Christian Single’s Ministry in Baltimore. Our family grew to include my second son Luke and our daughter Rachel. During the first five years of marriage, we lived in four states (Maryland, suburban New Jersey, Northern Virginia, and Dallas, Texas), where we made deep connections through ministry. In hindsight, we’ve seen how God was shaping us to minister in various environments throughout the country.

If you haven’t picked it up, we connect with ALL people! Additionally, I am passionate about preaching, disciple making, leadership development and discovering what can be from what currently exists. My acknowledged gifts are teaching, leadership and exhortation. One of my confirmed strengths is to teach from the Old and New Testament in creative ways. I absolutely love it when someone “gets it” and understands and responds positively to God through His Word.

My philosophy of ministry has developed from over 20 years of experience as a church member, volunteer leader, para-church trainer, Youth Pastor, Family Pastor, Assistant Pastor, and Director of Relational Ministries. I’ve expanded my leadership influence over the short time in which God has used me to help build His Kingdom, and I am excited about the opportunity to join God in His work now in the northern Anne Arundel County area.

God has called us to lead Life Connection Church to connect MANY to Christ, Community, and Calling. The concept expressed in the Greek word "Zoë" is, “the life God always intended for man to experience.” We’d love to have you join us in this great adventure of sharing God’s Zoë Life; something that only God can fulfill. Join us as we seek to connect many to purposeful Zoe Life. Jesus says, "I have come that you may have life and have it to the full..." (John 10:10). We are on a mission to assist people in discovering a purposeful life connected to Christ, Community, and Calling.

As far back as I can remember, I have been going to church. As a teen, I was a model church member: president of the youth choir, president of the youth group, a Sunday School teacher, and an usher. Nevertheless, it wasn't until I was 22 years old that I truly understood that every person--including me--is a sinner and that Jesus had to die to save us from the consequences of our own sinfulness. Like the Apostle Paul, it was as if scales fell from my eyes and I saw the world completely differently. Whereas before I encouraged my peers to come to church, I now encourage people to come to Christ.

Other things you might want to know about me? I love to learn--formally and informally. I have a BS in Mathematics from UMBC and a Ph.D. from Rice University, and I took graduate classes at Moody Theological Seminary. And I'm constantly teaching myself new things like Koine Greek (the language of the New Testament), Python (a computer programming language), and apologetics (the logical defense of Christianity). I also like Skiing and Snowboarding in the winter although I can't afford to do it as often as I'd prefer, and Biking the rest of the year. I've given up on dirt gardening and have planted fruit trees and berry bushes in the backyard and have been reasonably successful at hydroponics.

I've been all around the world but God keeps bringing me back to Maryland. I was born in Korea (my mom was Korean and my dad was African-American) and have lived in Korea, Texas, Maryland, Texas, Virginia, Maryland, England, and Maryland. I thank God that He has allowed me to serve Him in most of those places in children's ministry, men's ministry, church eldership, missions, street evangelism, and as a husband for over 25 years and a father of three daughters.

I grew up in a peaceful and loving household in Laurel, MD.  However, it became somewhat less peaceful after I picked up the trombone in elementary school, and soon after starting playing punk rock tunes on my guitar with friends.  Fortunately, my parents were generous and supportive of me in my early noise-making. I professed belief in Jesus Christ as a youth, and my faith was formed at my church and at a summer camp in PA called Summer's Best Two Weeks. As an achiever, I excelled in school and music, but it was the realization that I could not be perfect that led me to encounter the free love of God in a life-changing way. After 20 years of hard work trying to measure up, I confessed my deepest sins to a friend and experienced the reality of grace. I graduated from St. Olaf College in MN with a degree in music and spent my first post-graduate year teaching music in Guyana, South America. Afterward, I spent two years building affordable housing through the AmeriCorps program with Habitat for Humanity in Baltimore.  My passions at Life Connection Church are to nurture excellence in music and art, to be a listening and caring presence, and to see lives transformed by Jesus.

I was born and raised in Hawai`i and attended Catholic schools from K-12.  When I was presented with the Gospel in college, I was persuaded to trust Jesus as my Savior by the Holy Spirit and the clear assurance of salvation (John 5:24).

I earned my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Hawai`i Manoa.  I retired after 15 years as an Elementary School Counselor and moved to Maryland in 2014.  The Lord has blessed my husband and me with two adult children.

Each day I walked onto the campus of the elementary school I worked at, I was excited to interact with the students.  I was always aware of the opportunities to make a positive difference in each student’s life.   As the Children’s Ministry Director, along with our teachers, we will strive to provide a fun and safe environment, teaching from our excellent curriculum.

I know I speak for myself and the teachers, that we count it a privilege to have each child in our care and classes.  It is our prayer that Jesus Christ would become a real part of their lives and they would grow in His grace.

One of the most important things you should know about me is that I am a product of the great city of Chicago!!! Go Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks, and Cubs! I did, however, marry a Ravens fan, so I've adopted them as my new "Home Team".

I came to know the Lord at a young age and have had opportunities to serve Him in a number of ways throughout the years. My journey in Christ has not always been flawless, but I am grateful that He does not give up on those He claims as His own.

I met my husband, Marty Bennett, in 1995 after being transplanted to the Maryland area upon completion of graduate school. We were instant friends, but God had a bigger plan for our lives. We married in 1996 and have been growing together in life and in the Lord ever since.

In early 2011 the Lord began to give us the vision of a local church, within our own neighborhood, where people could live out their faith in Jesus Christ in a very tangible way. We wanted to become the hands and feet of Christ in the Northern Anne Arundel County area and beyond. Through this vision, “Life Connection Church” was born. We've been blessed to have a wonderful group of people who co-labor with us in this effort and are looking toward the day when God will bring to fruition all that He has planned to accomplish through this ministry for His glory.

I currently serve as a part of the Worship team, the Hospitality ministry, and act as the Business Manager for LCC.   I invite you to come and discover what God is doing here at Life Connection Church.  We'd love to help you in your journey to connect to Christ, Community, and your Calling in the Lord.

In Christ Alone,
